There are many different types of websites. A niche site or blog is a very popular type of website which is dedicated to covering a specific topic and can have anywhere from 20 pages to 200 pages depending on the niche. A niche site or blog will not get tons of traffic every month, but can have anywhere between 1,000 to 10,000 visitors per month. It must focus on a specific topic and provide both useful and interesting information about that topic.
You need to write high quality posts about one specific topic and you need to find specific keywords that you want to rank for in the search engines to get the most relevant search traffic. People create niche blogs or sites to rank highly in the search engines quickly for their targeted keywords and make money using a variety of methods. A niche blog or website can provide you with a consistent stream of income if you write quality posts or articles around the right keywords, and market the blog or site to the right niche audience.
What Are Authority, Authority Niche, Niche and Micro Niche Blogs or Sites?
It is important to understand how an authority, authority niche, niche and micro niche blog or site differs from one another. An authority site is a site that is built around a specific niche or topic and that covers not only the main niche but all of the other niches or topics and sub-niches in detail within it. Work is not a niche. It is too broad but “work at home” is a good niche, and “work at home jobs” is a more specific nice. If you want to build an authority site about “work at home” niche you will have to cover not only the main niche but also all other various different topics and sub-topics within and related to the main topic “work at home”, such as:
- Work at home jobs
- Work at home businesses
- Work at home jobs online
- Work at home businesses online
- Work at home jobs offline
- Etc
Each of the above niches and sub-niches can be narrowed down further to smaller sections or niches or sub-niches. You will need to write dozens of posts about each of the above niches and sub-niches and then create another 50-60 posts per small or sub-niche within each of these niches or sub-niches. An authority blog or site is essentially an authority niche blog or site. You can build an authority niche blog around a broad niche like “work at home” or a smaller section within it like “work at home jobs” or “work at home jobs for moms” by narrowing down the subsequent niche further.

A money making niche blog is built around a specific topic and usually consists of 20, 50 or even 200 well-written posts depending on the niche and age of the blog or site. However, it cannot be called an authority niche or authority blog if it does not cover all the topics or sub-niches within it thoroughly. A micro niche blog or site would cover a small topic that is very specific and it generally consists of only a few articles, blog posts or pages of content. For example, building a blog or site around “work at home data entry jobs for the moms” would be a micro niche blog or site because you can actually write only a few effective posts on this small topic.
If you want to build and monetize a niche blog or site you should cover the related niche well by posting unique and interesting posts on it. A niche blog or site can attract a lot of traffic and makes money from many different revenue streams if you do it right.
Monetization Strategies for Niche Blogs or Sites
The key to making money with a nice blog is to write SEO posts on the topic to get organic traffic from the search engines. There are several ways to monetize a niche blog, such as:
Display Ads
Once your blog gets some steady traffic, you can use Google AdSense ads to monetize the blog. You do not have to do anything other than choosing the ad type and where you would like the ads to appear on your blog. Google AdWords program will show ads relevant to your audience. You can check out the following online ad networks:
Affiliate Marketing Programs
Niche blog site owners can make money from affiliate marketing where they put up affiliate links on their blogs to promote other companies’ or people’ products, services and branding, and get paid when any visitor just click on an affiliate link or clicks through an affiliate link to land a relevant merchant’s site and buys something or signs up for something. Affiliate sales are one of the best ways to make money with a niche blog because the audience of the niche blogs are more likely to buy or sign up for products or services, or click on ads via the affiliate links placed on the niche blogs since they find the content of the blogs relevant to what they are looking for. Here are some affiliate networks I personally recommend:
You can also become an affiliate for products or services you use for your site if they have an affiliate program. Find out if your domain registrar, hosting company as well as theme provider (if you are using a paid theme for your site) has an affiliate program and if they have you can recommend their products and services and make money when any visitor you refer to them performs any specified action.
Sell Your Own Products
A niche blog is a great way to sell your own physical or digital products. For example, if you are specifically talking about different ways to make money online via high quality posts on your blog, you can create e-Books and earn money when they are sold. You can even sell your own physical products not relevant to your niche to your loyal audience. For example, if you have a self-hosted online store or an eBay store that is owned and run by eBay, you can link to your store via a navigation link on your blog. If your blog is providing information relevant to what your niche audience is looking for and that they find helpful, they might be interested in what other products or services you are offering. Some of them may be interested in checking out your store and may even buy your products or services.
Offer Your Services
Are you an expert social media consultant, web designer, freelance writer or Internet marketer? Why not offer your service that other people or businesses need? If the service you want to offer is relevant to the niche of your blog, then provide useful information via engaging content and showcase your expertise in the relevant field. If you are a social media expert, you may easily persuade small business site or niche blog owners to hire you as a social media consultant if they feel that the content on your niche blog about “social media marketing strategies for niche blogs” niche (for example) is relevant to what they need for their business or site. Create a “Hire Me” or a similar related page where you describe the services you want to offer and pricing options for the relevant services.
There are many more ways to make money from a niche blog and some of these include:
- Write Sponsored Posts
- Write Paid Guest Blog Posts
- Offer Consulting Services Over the Phone
- Sell Digital Products
- Sell Physical Products through drop shipping business model
